Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of HSE to lead our group-wide Health, Safety, and Environment function across the Gatronova Group of Companies. The position will be responsible for multiple site locations. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in process safety, compliance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks, particularly in the petrochemical industry. This strategic role will be responsible for driving a culture of safety excellence, managing compliance audits, and leading the implementation of world-class HSE standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic HSE Leadership:

  • Define and lead the group-wide HSE vision and strategy.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and site teams to embed a safety-first culture.
  • Develop and implement safety management systems aligned with international best practices.

Process Safety Management:

  • Identify and assess process safety hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Lead the implementation of process safety elements such as MOC (Management of Change), PHA (Process Hazard Analysis), and emergency preparedness.
  • Analyze incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

Audit & Compliance:

  • Prepare and execute HSE audit plans (including in SAP) and manage second-party audits across sites.
  • Ensure timely close-out of audit findings and regulatory inspections.
  • Maintain group-wide HSE KPIs, conduct trend analysis, and recommend improvements.

Policies & Standards:

  • Develop and enforce Level 1 Safety, Fire Protection, and Emergency Response Standards aligned with OSHA, NFPA, and API standards.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across all operational sites.

Employee Safety & Training:

  • Develop a comprehensive HSE training matrix for group-wide personnel.
  • Lead HSE education programs including mental health, first aid, and environmental management.
  • Standardize PPE and ensure procurement of items meeting global standards.

Risk & Incident Management:

  • Drive proactive risk assessments, hazard investigations, and incident reporting systems.
  • Participate in or lead investigation committees for major accidents and ensure timely implementation of findings.
  • Maintain and review safety legislation updates, ensuring internal systems remain compliant.

Team Management & Development:

  • Manage and mentor a team of HSE professionals.
  • Lead performance reviews, approve leave schedules, and design development plans.
  • Ensure appropriate compensation structures and support staff welfare.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s/master’s degree in chemical engineering or related field (BSc/MSc).
  • Experience: Minimum 15 years in leading HSE roles within fertilizer, petrochemical, or large-scale process plant industries.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., OSHA, API, NFPA).
  • Proven expertise in managing audits, risk assessments, and emergency response systems.
  • Proficient in SAP for audit planning and safety data management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
