Role Overview

The Lead Procurement is responsible for leading and managing end-to-end procurement activities to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven sourcing of goods and services. The role focuses on supplier management, strategic sourcing, cost optimization, compliance, and alignment with business objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Procurement Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals.

  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance.

  • Manage end-to-end procurement cycle including RFQs, negotiations, contracting, and purchase orders.

Supplier Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable suppliers and vendors.

  • Lead supplier negotiations to secure best commercial terms.

  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and ensure SLA compliance.

  • Drive supplier consolidation and long-term partnership development.

Cost Optimization & Budget Control

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and lead value engineering initiatives.

  • Ensure procurement activities are aligned with approved budgets.

  • Track savings, cost avoidance, and procurement KPIs.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies, approval matrices, and ethical standards.

  • Maintain documentation for audits, contracts, and compliance reviews.

  • Manage risk related to supply continuity, pricing volatility, and vendor dependency.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Planning, Finance, Production, and Quality teams.

  • Translate business requirements into effective sourcing strategies.

  • Support cross-functional projects and operational excellence initiatives.

Systems & Reporting

  • Utilize ERP systems (SAP preferred) for procurement transactions and reporting.

  • Prepare procurement dashboards, spend analysis, and management reports.

  • Support continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop procurement team members.

  • Set performance objectives and ensure capability development within the team.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.

  • Master’s degree or professional certification (CIPS, CSCP) is a plus.

  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in Procurement or Supply Chain, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong experience in strategic sourcing, vendor negotiations, and contract management.

  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA preferred).
